Bear
Lake (also known as Bat or Growler Lake) is located in the part
of Ontario known as the Canadian Shield. The Bear Lake Wilderness
Acreage is characterized by rolling hills, ranging in elevation
from 1,000 feet to 1,400 feet above sea level, covered in mature
forests of Maple, Oak, Birch and White Pine - some as old as 150
years. This mature forest hosts a multitude of wildlife including,
White Tailed Deer, Moose, and many nesting birds including the waterfowl
which call Bear Lake home. The lands to the North and South are
privately owned and the lands to the West are thousands of acres
of Crown Forest for everyone to enjoy.

Bear
Lake Wilderness Acreage completely surrounds Bear Lake with a total
area of approximately 850 Acres. Bear Lake itself is approximately
1.8 kilometres in length, with some areas of the lake exceeding
100 feet in depth with a water clarity that is second to none. Lake
Trout and Splake (a cross between Lake and Brooke Trout) are plentiful,
producing fillets of bright orange and red. The colours are due
to the abundance of fresh water shrimp in the lake that provide
an ample food source. |
